Theme 2011: Connections & Common Ground

Bien étonnés de se trouver ensemble!

Connections

Never does a musician feel a stronger sense of connection than during a well-executed phrase played on stage with other musicians with whom he/she shares a special bond. Especially when the hall is full of music lovers and - using the notes by all of those fantastic composers - you are able to draw them closer to you, as the performance washes over them. Listeners provide the fundamental support that each and every performance relies on and that we as musicians can feel.

We would like to share our passion for music with you. A love that reaches out and connects with our lives, adding a valuable extra dimension as it does so – one that creates a close bond between us. The fact that even the preservation of our most precious cultural heritage can no longer be taken for granted, nowadays, means that we are much more aware that the inherent value of music primarily lies in that unbroken link we have with you, our listeners. As long as you keep on coming, we will keep on performing.

Ladies and gentlemen, regular listeners and new listeners, young and old, it gives us great pleasure to welcome you once again – and we are very much looking forward to seeing you again. Bien étonnés de se trouver ensemble. It gives me great pleasure to be able to present to you the most beautiful chamber music, brought to life by a sense of friendship and cultural fusion and performed by the most talented musicians from home and abroad.

And to top off the experience at this year’s festival, we have formed our own festival orchestra, in which many different participants in the festival will pool their musical talents.
This will truly be a celebration of the connections that exist between us!
